My friend is an excellent make up artist and decided to decorate my face. I've never really worn an extravagant amount of make-up. When I do my own make-up I stick to the basics: base, bronzer, eyeliner, mascara..
So when I looked in the mirror after the overly relaxing process (she made it feel like she was giving me a face massage), I was a little shocked to see the electric blue taking over my eyes. I felt like a warrior. Who can say that?

Fabric shopping has always been an extremely time consuming activity for me. No one seems to understand why I feel the need to stare at the endless aisles of the different colors and textures. Or why, after various minutes of staring, I also feel the urge to exercise by walking through each row. Again, this is repeated several times. The employees at one of the stores that I frequent say hello when I walk in and then go about their own business. I’m assuming they are already accustomed to my routine. I dragged two of my closest friends with me this time. One of them had never been to Downtown before. They weren’t happy when I got us lost. I personally don’t believe I should be blamed, as this was only the second time I had ever been without someone who could easily guide me through the confusing labyrinth-like streets. Most definitely an adventure.

Why not start the night with a boutique opening? So, we did. The usual variety of apparel lovers, from network seekers and known shopaholics to journalists and style editors, packed the small locale to each of its four walls. An assortment of mini cupcakes, cookies, cheese and little treats decorated a table set up right in the middle…and all the way at the end (right next to the dressing rooms and the cashier. I’m still not sure if that was just a coincidence)? The Bar. An endless array of champagne bottles seemed to be popping out of nowhere every minute. We weren’t complaining. No complaints about the boutique either. Unfortunately, we didn’t remember to take pictures of the actual place. To give you an idea, the theme consisted of a Victorian inspired setting with a completely modern twist. In other words, as can be seen in the photo, chandeliers, roses; the works.
The rest of the night turned out to be one of the most memorable nights in my life, so far.

Valentino

Stella McCartney

Balmain

Akris

Obviously these are not all that showed. Usually the ones I choose are dominated by darker colors, mostly (well, entirely) black. However, I don't think I'll mind adding some subtle touches of neutral tones; or that startling blue that Stella McCartney added in every couple of looks appearing down the runway. Its definitely startling for me at least. Maybe some color isn't such a bad idea. Mixed in with black of course.
My favorite? Valentino. I have to say that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli's new version of what Valentino is, has undeniably won me over.

First post.
California has been my main anchor here. The essence of all the Beach Boys sang about. Keeps me rooted to this country; my father’s homeland. Long Beach is the town, to be more precise. Just the name takes me to another mindset. It really does. A more relaxing escape for me to be. Even if it is only in my head most of the time. I don’t get to travel to my peace place as often as I’d like. Unfortunate, yes. But life goes on.
Last visit? One word: ecstacy. California is one enormous state though. A road trip from north to south, and then back north, was a little intense. All I have to say is thank god for satellite radio. Who would have thought my favorite station would have been the comedy stand up channel. Kept me going on those seemingly never ending roads where the coast seemed to be picturesque in similar exactness. Probably woke up the ghost towns we passed. All you could hear for miles was my insane, quite manic, laughter. Might have been my boredom, but I thought those comedians were really, really funny.
